THE IBO JIM MERRITT IMPACT AWARD
The International Bowhunting Organization is proud to recognize individuals whose dedication, leadership, and service have made a lasting impact on bowhunting, 3D archery, and the IBO community.
For those who did not have the privilege of knowing Jim Merritt, he was a longtime member and shooter, the IBO Tournament Director, and Vice President of the International Bowhunting Organization. Jim devoted his life to promoting the sport of archery, encouraging youth involvement, and being a true steward of our natural resources.
He volunteered countless hours with 4-H Shooting Sports in West Virginia, as well as annually at the 4-H Shooting Sports Nationals in Nebraska. Jim also served as a Hunter Education Instructor in West Virginia, spending many days each year ensuring that young people and new hunters were safely prepared to take the next step into the outdoors.
As IBO Tournament Director and Vice President, Jim worked tirelessly to provide our members with fair, safe, and enjoyable tournament experiences. In March of 2024, we lost Jim, but his guidance and spirit continue to inspire us as we serve our members.
This award is presented not only to keep Jim’s memory alive, but also as a reminder to strive to follow in his footsteps and lead by his example.
